A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

DEFINITION

Do not get greedy. An old adage about wanting too, too much. What you have acquired is of more value than what you may wish to gain. Be satisfied with what you have. In other words, you have a bird in your hand, but it may fly away if you try to catch two that are uncaught in a bush/tree. (Compare to Your eyes are bigger than your stomach.)
