Act your age

DEFINITION

Don’t be childish. Act mature. Grow-up.  The fact that you are being told to act your age exposes a less mature demeanor or reaction. (Compare to Namby-pamby or Hanging on your mother’s apron strings. Contrast with the Adult in the room.)

“I told my son to quit crying about losing his job and go find another, act your age I yelled at him.”
