Baker’s Dozen

DEFINITION

A bonus. Extra. A dozen is, of course, 12, but if the baker likes you he might toss in an extra at no charge. Receiving more than planned. The phrase is used to suggest a minimum and you will probably get more.

“We need several chairs for the party, so I hope we  have a baker’s dozen.”
