DEFINITION

Contrary to popular sentiment. ‘Trend’  refers to normal or popular decorum or format, so to ‘buck it’ is to diverge from the norm. (Compare to Off the beaten path, March to a different drummer or Breed apart.)

“Everyone in your school has a driver’s license, but if you don’t want one, well go ahead and buck the trend.”
