DEFINITION

A slight chance of success in spite of great difficulties. ‘Gleam’ implies a very small, but recognizable factor and ‘of hope’ implies a solution or beneficial outcome.¬† (Compare to Silver lining.)

“We lost everything we own in the house fire, but there is a gleam of hope because my work truck was saved so I can still get a job.”
