Golden years

DEFINITION

Old age. Health and happiness after retirement. ‘Golden’ is used in reference to a 50th wedding anniversary, so here it is used for people of mature, senior age. Typically refers to people age 60 or older, although many businesses give a ‘senior’ discount at age 55.  Also referred to as ‘golden age’. (Compare to Old codger.)
