Surprise or admiration. Also used as ‘golly gee’ or ‘go-o-o-lle-e-e’. A very casual statement for a variety of reactions to : shame, surprise, amazement or sadness. (Compare to Knee-slapper, Holy cow, Gosh darn or I’ll be hanged.)
