DEFINITION

Successful period. ‘Ride’ refers to an unspecified period of time of an endeavor: decades for a marriage, days for a road trip or years at a satisfying job etc. Typically, used when a project comes to an end, often unintentionally, but suggests it was a fun or successful endeavor while it lasted.

“After twenty year of marriage, we split up, but we had a good ride.”
