Difficult situation or idea to comprehend. Sadly unbelievable. ‘Hard’ is used in the sense of not an easy matter to believe. It might be a true fact that one does not want to remember or it can be a crazy idea that seem illogical.¬† (Compare to Hard pressed or Holes in the story. )
