DEFINITION

Small advantage. Implies a competition and that one has some added superiority in performing. ‘Edge’ suggests that one is closer to reaching the edge of a confrontation than your adversary. Also used as ‘inside edge’ meaning an advantage as well.  (Compare to Inside track or Stack the cards in ones favor.)

“I think that with those new athletic shoes, you will have an edge on the other team.”
