Last of the big time spenders

DEFINITION

Sarcastic description of one who is cheap; a spendthrift. Although the phrase suggests the person spends money freely, it typically is used to belittle someone for being the exact opposite. (Compare to Cheapskate or Tightwad.)

“Your brother bought us a used chair for our new house, he must be the last of the big time spenders.”
