One for the road

A last drink before leaving. ‘One’ refers to one last cocktail and ‘road’ implies that then one will be heading  home. Also a phrase used to linger awhile longer before leaving a romantic or friendly gathering.

I have to leave, but, I guess I can have one more beer for the road.”
