One step at a time

DEFINITION

Slow but sure movement. Logical and methodical progress. Implies that one does not have to accomplish all steps simultaneously in a process, but just focus  upon each individual movement forward and when that is accomplished, move onto the next step and so forth. A basic tenet of Alcoholics Anonymous.

“After the earthquake, our office was a huge mess, but we started cleaning one step at a time and had it finished by the end of the week.”
