DEFINITION

Use a hidden asset to succeed. Attempting a controversial path to success. The ‘wild card’ may beĀ  hoping on chance or it maybe a secret asset. In playing cards the Joker card is often made wild so it can be of any specified value if you are lucky enough to get it, so this phrase suggests an unorthodox tactic.
