Preaching to the choir

DEFINITION

Telling someone what they already know.  Explaining an argument to those who already agree. A preacher, minister or priest speaking to  the choir who are already devotees. So it would be a waste of time to speak to believers whereas it would be more worthwhile to speak to non-believers.

“Oh, honey you don’t have to tell me how mean some men can be, you’re preaching to choir here.”
