DEFINITION

Try to locate something. ‘Scaring up’ proposes that your are requesting something uncommon, but it can probably be forced (scared up) to come out of the woodwork. (Contrast with Scrape together.)

“You want to buy a touch-tone landline phone? Well, I think I can scare up one around my store.”
