Screw over

Take advantage of someone, especially financially. ‘Screw’ is used in many slang phrases, mostly as being defeated or out-smarted by someone, so to screw over someone is to profit from their innocence or naivete. (Compare to Take advantage of, Take for a ride, Hornswoggle, Scam or Rip-off.)

“In the divorce, he screwed over his wife and she got absolutely nothing from the settlement.”
