Second wind

DEFINITION

Gained energy after an initial period of toil and tiredness. ‘Second wind’ refers to the fact that at the beginning of a race or endeavor, one has a natural amount of wind or breathing ability and stamina, so get a second wind is to get another burst of energy.

“It’s a long climb up ten stairways to your apartment, but now that we’ve rested, I have a second wind and can finish climbing.”
