Speak to the hand

DEFINITION

The person one is speaking to is no longer listening to whatever you are saying. Typically signaling that any argument or opinion is finished as far as you are concerned. When said, often the person trying to ignore you puts the palm of their hand towards your face/mouth to indicate an unwillingness to continue the discussion. (Compare to Brush off or Tune out.)

“When I nag my wife to quit smoking, she now just tells me to talk to the hand and walks away.”
