DEFINITION

Betrayal. To be stabbed in the back means one may not know who is hurting you, but probably an acquaintance who is able to be near  you. (Compare to Double cross.)

“I though he was trying to help me get promoted but instead he wanted the same job, so he stabbed  me in the back.”
