Stew in one’s own juices

Self-imposed disaster. Surrounded by troubles one has created. Continuously bothered by embarrassment or a bad situation. ‘Own juices’ refers to problems you have created, so to stew in them is to live with the repercussions. (Compare to Made your bed, now sleep in it.)

“After her auto accident, I told my daughter she cannot go to the school dance and she has said nothing since, but just sits in her room and stews in her own juices.”
