String out

DEFINITION

Slow the progress; delay. Lengthen a project, discussion or relationship in order to delay the resulting ending. You might string out a love relationship until you find a replacement lover; you might string out someone you owe money to because you can’t pay right now. (Compare to Slow walk or Put off. Different from Strung out).

“I don’t know how much longer I can string out working two jobs.”
