Stuck in one’s craw

DEFINITION

Irritated by. Grudge. Lingering distaste from someone’s words, performance or actions. ‘Craw’ is a bird’s throat, so to have something stuck in the throat is an irritating feeling, so the phrase presents a bad feeling one has about someone or something. (Compare to GetĀ  your lather up, Hot under the co9llar or Rub the wrong way.)
