Swindle.  Illegally profiting off of someone’s naivete. Take advantage of someone by taking their money or offering false promises. Stealing someone through a confidence game. ‘Ride’ refers to a disastrous situation that someone has dragged you into. (Compare to Scam, Hoodwink, Play like a cheap fiddle, Pull a fast one  Take advantage of.)
