Turn back the clock

DEFINITION

Wishing to re-live a moment. Longing for past, better times. To rue the past. To wish for a second chance. If one could turn back time, you would revert to days long ago, the phrase is often used when an elderly person is reminiscing.

“I was always sorry I yelled at my son, I wish I could turn back the clock and be nicer to him.”
