Turn one’s back on

DEFINITION

Ignore someone seeking help. Stop aiding someone who you were helping. Stop meeting an acquaintance suddenly. To turn one’s back on someone suggests you no longer want to see them or be involved with them. (Compare to Ghosting.)

“After years of friendship, he turned his back on me when I asked him to lend me money.”
