Water under the bridge

DEFINITION

Past problem should be forgotten or a previous mistake is in the past. It suggests that, like a flowing river, some past incident has long past and need not be remembered. (Compare to Spilled milk.)

“I know  you want to talk about our divorce, but that is unnecessary, it’s water under the bridge.”
